Partner Code of Conduct
We hold everyone who works with us to the standards we set for ourselves. This code sets out what we expect.
Last updated:
Purpose
The quality, safety and integrity of our work depend on everyone who contributes to it. This code sets out the standards Hazaar Group LLP (“Hazaar”) expects of everyone who provides goods or services to it (“partners”). They are the same standards we apply to ourselves, set out on our standards page.
Where this code sets a higher standard than the law, the higher standard applies. Where the law sets a higher standard than this code, the law applies.
Who this code applies to
This code applies to every organisation and individual that provides goods or services to Hazaar, including:
- architects, designers, engineers and other consultants;
- contractors and specialist trades;
- suppliers of materials, products and services;
- their employees, agents and workers, including workers engaged through labour contractors; and
- their subcontractors, at every tier.
We make this code part of our agreements with partners.
Compliance with the law
- Comply with every law and regulation that applies to your work, and hold every licence, registration and approval it requires.
- Never ask Hazaar, or anyone acting for Hazaar, to do anything unlawful, and tell us promptly if you believe something we have asked for would break the law.
Health and safety
- Plan and manage your work so that no one is harmed, using safe systems of work and competent supervision.
- Provide suitable training, protective equipment and welfare facilities for every worker, at no cost to them.
- Give every worker the right to stop work they believe is unsafe, without penalty.
- Report every accident, injury and dangerous occurrence to Hazaar promptly, and to the authorities as the law requires.
- Never work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Workers and human rights
- Never use child labour, or forced, bonded or trafficked labour in any form.
- Pay at least the wages the law requires, on time and in full, and keep accurate records of hours and payments.
- Keep working hours, rest days and overtime within the limits the law sets.
- Never retain workers’ identity documents or charge them fees for their jobs.
- Provide safe drinking water, sanitation, rest areas and, where workers live on or near a site, decent accommodation.
- Treat every worker with dignity and respect. Never tolerate harassment, abuse or discrimination.
- Respect workers’ rights under the law to associate and to raise grievances.
Environment
- Control dust, noise, vibration, light, water run-off and waste, and minimise disruption to neighbours.
- Use energy, water and materials efficiently, and reuse or recycle wherever practical.
- Source materials responsibly and lawfully, and tell us where they come from when we ask.
- Store and dispose of hazardous materials safely and as the law requires.
Quality
- Deliver work that meets the agreed specification, and never substitute materials or methods without written approval.
- Inspect and test your work, record the results honestly and make them available to us.
- Tell us promptly about any defect, error or risk to quality, and put it right.
Business integrity
- Never offer, give, request or accept a bribe, kickback or improper payment of any kind, directly or through anyone else.
- Do not offer gifts or hospitality to anyone at Hazaar beyond what is modest and occasional.
- Declare any conflict of interest as soon as you become aware of it.
- Compete fairly, and never collude with others on prices or bids.
- Keep accurate books and records, and never falsify documents, test results or certificates.
Information and data
- Protect Hazaar’s confidential information and use it only for the work you do for us.
- Handle personal data as Indian data protection law requires, and only for the purpose it was given.
- Tell us without delay about any security incident or data breach that affects our work or our information.
- Do not speak publicly on Hazaar’s behalf, or use our name or logo, without our written permission.
Subcontracting
Subcontract only with our approval where the contract requires it, and ensure that every subcontractor meets this code. You remain responsible for the work of your subcontractors.
Assurance and improvement
- Allow Hazaar, or someone acting for us, to review your compliance with this code, including by visiting sites and inspecting relevant records.
- Where we find a shortfall, agree a plan with us to correct it, and carry it out on time.
- Share with us ways to raise standards further. We expect to improve this code over time.
Raising concerns
Anyone can raise a concern about a breach of this code, in confidence and without fear of retaliation. See Report a concern. Partners must not retaliate against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, and must make sure their workers know how to raise one.
Breaches
We look into every reported breach. Depending on its seriousness, we may require corrective action, suspend work or end our relationship with the partner concerned, in addition to any remedy under the contract or the law.
