Careers
Join a company built on standards
We hire carefully. Every person who joins Hazaar should raise our standards, not simply meet them, and we look for people who intend to build their careers here for the long term.
What we look for
Forward thinkers who hold themselves to a higher standard
We set a high bar for every hire, and we do not lower it to fill a role faster. Skills can be taught; these qualities are what we look for first.
First-principles thinking
You break hard problems down to what is true, and build the answer from there rather than from habit.
Forward thinking
You anticipate how places, technology and expectations will change, and plan for that future, not the last one.
Intellectual honesty
You follow the evidence, say what you think, and accept the obligation to disagree, respectfully, when something is wrong.
Ownership
You own outcomes, not tasks, and you see them through to the last detail.
Rigour and craft
You get the details right, and you take pride in work that lasts for decades.
Integrity and safety
You do the right thing when no one is watching, and you never trade safety for speed.
Learning and teaching
You learn quickly, share what you learn, and help the people around you grow.
Respect
You treat everyone with respect, from site workers to partners, without exception.

The environment we are building
A workplace that lives by its own standards
- Our standards apply to us first. Everyone, the designated partners included, is held to them.
- Safety comes before everything, and anyone can stop unsafe work.
- Decisions are made in writing, with a named owner, so everyone knows where they stand.
- Mistakes are reported and learned from, not hidden.
- Everyone is treated fairly and with respect, whatever their background, and opportunities are open to all.
- As the company grows, the people who helped build it grow with it.
How we hire
Rigorous, structured and fair
Every hiring decision is made on evidence, against criteria set in advance, by more than one person. It is demanding by design, and it is just as much a chance for you to judge us. If you need an adjustment at any stage, tell us and we arrange it.
Step 1
The bar, in writing
Before we meet anyone, we write down what the role needs and how each quality is assessed.
Step 2
Structured interviews
Every candidate for a role answers the same core questions, scored independently against the same criteria.
Step 3
Real work
A practical exercise based on a real problem shows how you think, and shows you how we work.
Step 4
An independent voice
Someone outside the role’s reporting line also interviews you, to protect the bar for everyone.
Step 5
References
With your permission, we speak to people who have worked with you.
Step 6
Decision in writing
The designated partners decide together, on the evidence, and confirm the decision and every term of an offer in writing.
What you can expect
High standards, in both directions
We ask a great deal of the people who join us. This is what they can ask of us.
Clarity
Clear expectations in writing, and honest, specific feedback at least twice a year.
Responsibility early
Real responsibility from the start, with designated partners who are close at hand and easy to reach.
Development
Time and support for professional training and qualifications that raise your standards and ours.
Fairness and inclusion
Pay and progression decided on merit and evidence, reasonable adjustments for anyone who needs them, and opportunities open to everyone. Read our equal opportunity policy.
A safe, respectful workplace
Zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination, and a firm commitment to the law on preventing sexual harassment at work.
One code for all
Everyone at Hazaar, the designated partners first, follows the same Code of Business Conduct.
Open roles
There are no open roles at present
When there are, we list them here.
If you share our standards, register your interest. We read every message, and we contact you if a suitable role opens.
